Feeding Time at the Zoo

Uncle Darwin is, for the most part, a mild-mannered old boy who rarely puts up a fight about anything, but when it's dinner time, he'll bowl you over if you're between him and his dog dish. You can only imagine what happens when 2 little puppies get in his way!

Bella and Baxter, on the other hand, have also learned what happens when it's dinner time. All we have to do is touch their bowls and they go berserk.

As you can imagine, one person trying to feed 3 cuckoo dogs is like sticking your hand in a tank of Piranhas! So begins the dance! I start by getting all 3 bowls ready, stacking the younger two's and holding them in one hand, while holding Darwin's in the other. I try to get Darwin's bowl down first because he'll eat the puppy food if it happens the other way around, but I have to be careful the puppies don't eat his food! I've been known to give Darwin's bowl a good slide across the kitchen floor while distracting the puppies with the other bowls. Don't laugh - it seems to work!

And within a mere 30 seconds, all the food has been eaten (vacuumed), and I don't even get so much as a thank you. Ingrates.

hi; just found your blog through a comment you left on Gibson's blog (I hope he feels better soon); anyway, Bella and Baxter are soooo adorable! true corgis when it comes to eating for sure! I can't imagine adopting 2 of them at the same time; what fun, what adventures, what shedding!

seriously, they are great companions and a joy to have as pets!

my hubby trained Koda, our tri, to sit and wait for his food to be placed. However, if he gets a bit of a treat sometimes with some cheese, he's a bit impatient to get to his bowl. very food driven these corgis are :)

Oh my goodness, it's like they're trying to see who gets to finish eating first! Cute..
